Dear San Diego Mesa College Students, Staff, and Faculty,
It is with deep sadness to write this message. On January 21st, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at a Lunar New Year event in Monterey Park, CA leaving 10 people left for dead and at least 10 others left injured. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims, their loved ones, and the AAPI community. We encourage our community to take moments to process this event while checking in on each other, especially our AAPI students, faculty, and staff. These incidents impact us dearly and I encourage our SD Mesa family to seek out any support that might be needed through:
- San Diego Mesa Student Health Services (619) 388-2774
- Employee Assistance Plan (888) 625-4809
- San Diego County Department of Mental Health (800) 339-4461
- or your own private resources.
Statement from Joe Biden on the Shooting in Monterey Park, California:
