Jack Forman

Librarian Chair, Public Services/Library Instruction

Education:
B.A., University of Rochester
M.L.S., Rutgers University

My main coordinating responsibility at the library is overseeing the public services program. Specifically, I maintain the operation of the library’s reference desk where librarians answer research questions posed by library users during the open hours of the LRC. I coordinate the Library Instruction/Information Competency program. I also oversee the policy aspects of the library’s Circulation Services and Course Reserve collection.

Note on Library Instruction: College Faculty who wish to bring their class to the library for an 80-minute library instruction session that is designed to meet the particular needs of their class should complete the application at http://homework.sdmesa.edu/libinstr/DOCS/Request.doc and return it electronically to me at jforman@sdccd.edu or our library Instructional Technician, James Jaworski at jjaworsk@sdccd.edu at least two weeks before the scheduled date of the session.

Also, working with classroom faculty in the departments noted below, I select books for the library’s collection that meet the needs of students who take courses in these subjects and the needs of faculty who teach these courses. I am the library liaison to the following departments/programs: Business/Economics/Marketing, Chicano Studies, Counseling and Career Education (Includes Academic, Career and Personal Counseling), Dance, Dramatic Arts, English/ESL, Film, Languages, Religion and Speech Communications.
