Purpose
(a) The specific and primary purposes are to provide an organization to which subscribing members can make contributions and which organization will, in turn, make contributions to financially assist students to pursue education beyond a secondary or high school level, acquire permanent collections and art endowments, and generally operate in the advancement of education, provided, however, that no part of the net earnings of this corporation shall insure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual, that no substantial part of its activities shall be carrying on propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, that it shall not participate in or intervene in (including the publishing or distribution of statements), any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
(b) The general purposes and powers are:
(1) To solicit, collect, receive, acquire, hold and invest money and property ) both real and personal) received by gift, contribution, bequest, devise or otherwise;
(2) To buy, lease, rent, or otherwise acquire, hold or use, own enjoy, sell exchange, lease or lesser, mortgage, deed in trust, pledge, encumber, transfer of trust, or otherwise dispose of any and all kinds of property, whether real, personal, or mixed and to receive property to devise of bequest;
(3) To borrow money and to contract debts, to issue bonds, notes and other evidence of indebtedness, and to secure them by any or all of the property of this corporation, or to issue them unsecured;
(4) To enter into, make, perform and carry out contracts of every kind for any lawful purpose and without limit on amount with any person, firm, or corporation, and
(5) To have and to exercise all the powers conferred by the California General Nonprofit Corporation law on nonprofit corporations, as that law is now in effect or may at any time hereafter be amended.
